What L-Arginine Dosage for Men Did Studies Use?
The L-arginine dosage for men in a meta-analysis of ten randomized trials was 1,500 to 5,000 mg a day, in men with mild to moderate ED. One HoneyBoost gummy prints 10 mg of L-arginine, which is 0.7% to 0.2% of that range. No source tested the gummy, and the label makes no ED claim.

Study doses01
How much L-arginine did the studies use?
A 2019 meta-analysis pooled ten randomized trials in 540 men with mild to moderate ED. Arginine at 1,500 to 5,000 mg a day was linked to improvement over placebo or no treatment, with an odds ratio of 3.37 (95% CI 1.29 to 8.77) (Rhim 2019, Arginine and ED Meta-analysis (J Sex Med)).
The same analysis found no change in the sexual desire score. Adverse effects were more common with arginine, 8.3% against 2.3% with placebo, and none were severe. Dose and duration varied from trial to trial.
Mayo Clinic lists oral L-arginine as possibly effective for ED due to a physical cause, and it gives no dose (Mayo Clinic, L-arginine). The doses we can cite are measured in grams.
The label02
How does 10 mg of L-arginine compare with a 5 g dose?
Ten milligrams is 0.2% of a 5,000 mg dose and 0.7% of a 1,500 mg dose. To reach 5 g from HoneyBoost, you would need 500 gummies.
That number shows the scale, not a plan. One gummy has 10 mg of L-arginine, one of seven printed lines, and the label sets one gummy as one serving. L-arginine has no established Daily Value.
So the trial result belongs to the trial dose. We do not say the gummy does what grams did, and the label makes no such claim.
| Amount | Source | HoneyBoost gummy as a share |
|---|---|---|
| 1,500 mg a day | Low end of the meta-analysis | 0.7% |
| 3,000 mg a day | Midpoint of that range | 0.3% |
| 5,000 mg a day | High end of the range | 0.2% |
| 10 mg per gummy | HoneyBoost label | 100% |
Cautions03
Who should be careful with L-arginine?
People on blood pressure or chest-pain medicine, or with heart disease or diabetes, should ask a clinician first. Mayo Clinic says L-arginine might lower blood pressure, and with nitrate medicine it might drop too low (Mayo Clinic, L-arginine).
- Not recommended after a recent heart attack
- May lower blood sugar in people with diabetes
- Anticoagulant and anti-platelet drugs may raise bleeding risk
- Do not combine with amiloride, spironolactone or triamterene
- May worsen allergies or asthma
These cautions are from a page about L-arginine supplements, usually in larger amounts. We cannot tell how much applies at 10 mg, so we do not downplay them.

Should you try L-arginine for erection problems?
See a clinician first. Erection problems can signal heart disease, high blood pressure or diabetes, and a visit finds out which (Mayo Clinic, ED Symptoms and Causes).
Keep taking any prescribed medicine, including nitrates or ED medicine. Do not combine a supplement with those without your doctor or pharmacist's word. Our ED basics page covers the common causes.
The label warns: "Do not take if pregnant, lactating, suffering from a medical condition or taking other medications. Consult a physician before using this product." The label prints no directions line. Compare the other lines in our ingredient guide, and read the post on blood pressure medicine.
Call 911 or get emergency care. Chest pain and fainting need the same response.
FAQ05
L-arginine dosage questions
Is 10 mg of L-arginine effective?
No source we read tested 10 mg. The trials used 1,500 to 5,000 mg a day. The label makes no ED claim, and 10 mg is under 1% of the studied range.
How much L-arginine is safe per day?
The sources we read set no safe upper limit. Trials of up to 5,000 mg reported mild adverse effects at 8.3% against 2.3% for placebo. Mayo Clinic and MSK list cautions. Ask a clinician.
Can L-arginine lower blood pressure?
Yes, per Mayo Clinic and Memorial Sloan Kettering, supplements can lower it. That matters if you take blood pressure medicine or nitrates. Ask your pharmacist before combining them.
Is L-arginine the same as nitric oxide supplements?
Not exactly. L-arginine is an amino acid the body uses in several ways. We found no source tying 10 mg to any effect, so we make no nitric oxide claim for HoneyBoost.
