Side effects and safety

HoneyBoost Side Effects: Is HoneyBoost Safe, and With Which Medicines?

Quick answer

HoneyBoost side effects have not been studied, because no trial tests the gummy. Its ingredients carry known cautions: 3 g of added sugar, L-DOPA from mucuna, blood pressure effects from L-arginine and zinc limits. The label says not to take it with other medications. Ask your doctor or pharmacist first.

The short answer01

Is HoneyBoost safe, and what are the side effects?

Nobody can call HoneyBoost safe or unsafe from a study, because none exists. What we have is the label, the ingredient sources and the known cautions for each.

The label does not list side effects. It lists a warning: "Do not take if pregnant, lactating, suffering from a medical condition or taking other medications. Consult a physician before using this product." That is the safety statement from the seller's own bottle.

Every number below comes from a source about a single ingredient, often at a far higher dose than one gummy holds. That makes these cautions signals to check, not predictions. We never write "no side effects," and we do not claim any.

Cautions by ingredient, as each source states them
Ingredient (per gummy)Caution in the source
Zinc 2.5 mgAdult upper limit is 40 mg a day from all sources (NIH ODS, Zinc)
Maca 10 mgMay not be safe in pregnancy or breastfeeding; may interfere with testosterone lab tests (MSK, Maca)
Horny goat weed 10 mgAvoid with heart disease; rapid heartbeat reported; hormone-sensitive cancers (MSK, Epimedium (Horny Goat Weed))
Damiana 10 mgAnimal studies suggest it may affect blood sugar (MSK, Damiana)
Tongkat ali 25 mgRare reports of liver injury (LiverTox, Tongkat Ali)
Mucuna 10 mgNatural source of L-DOPA (9.8 mg here) (Katzenschlager 2004, Mucuna in Parkinson Disease (JNNP))
L-arginine 10 mgCan lower blood pressure; may lower blood sugar (Mayo Clinic, L-arginine)

Medicines02

Can you take HoneyBoost with medication?

The label says no, if you take other medications. Ask your doctor or pharmacist before you mix HoneyBoost with any prescription, and keep taking the prescribed one.

Never stop or change a prescribed medicine because of a supplement (NIDDK, Treatment for ED). The groups below are the ones the ingredient sources flag. Each caution comes from the page that states it, not from a test of the gummy.

Nitrates and ED medicines

L-arginine plus nitrate medicine "might cause your blood pressure to become too low" (Mayo Clinic, L-arginine). Prescription ED drugs can also harm men on nitrates (Mayo Clinic, ED Diagnosis and Treatment).

Blood pressure medicine

L-arginine can lower blood pressure, so the two could stack (MSK, Arginine).

Parkinson's drugs, MAO inhibitors, antipsychotics

Mucuna is a source of L-dopa. The prescription levodopa pages list MAO inhibitors, and antipsychotics blunt its effect (MedlinePlus, Levodopa and Carbidopa). A clinician should know about any L-dopa source.

Blood thinners and diabetes medicine

Arginine sources note possible bleeding risk with anticoagulant drugs and lower blood sugar in people with diabetes (Mayo Clinic, L-arginine).

Zinc supplements can affect some antibiotics and other drugs, so ask about timing (NIH ODS, Zinc). The full guide is on supplements and medicines.

Sugar03

Is the sugar in HoneyBoost a side effect worth worrying about?

The sugar is the one effect we can count exactly. Each gummy has 3 g of added sugar, 6% of the Daily Value, and a bottle holds 90 g.

FDA sets the Daily Value at 50 g and calls 5% or less low (FDA, Added Sugars on the Nutrition Facts Label). The American Heart Association limit for most men is about 36 g a day (AHA, Added Sugars). One gummy is about 8% of that, and sugar and corn syrup top the Other Ingredients.

Diabetes, or sweet drinks already in your day, change the math. Slide the meter to see yours.

15 g

One gummy adds 3 g. With 15 g from the rest of your day, that is 18 g of added sugar, 50% of the 36 g limit.

  • 3 gadded sugar per gummy, 6% of the Daily Value (label)
  • 90 gin a 30-gummy bottle
  • 2.5 daysworth of the 36 g limit, if one bottle's sugar were eaten at once

The American Heart Association says most men should have no more than 9 teaspoons (36 grams) of added sugar a day (AHA, Added Sugars). The label prints 3 g of added sugar per gummy; the other sugar in your day is your own estimate. A checking aid, not medical advice.

Zinc04

Can you get too much zinc with HoneyBoost?

Not from HoneyBoost alone: one gummy has 2.5 mg, and the adult upper limit is 40 mg a day from all sources (NIH ODS, Zinc).

The risk is stacking. A multivitamin, an immune supplement and another men's product can each carry zinc. Add them up with the checker.

  1. Zinc2.5 mg a day (2.5 mg from HoneyBoost)

At or under the 40 mg adult upper limit for zinc.

Type the zinc printed on any multivitamin or other supplement you take.

The adult upper limit from NIH ODS is 40 mg of zinc a day from all sources (NIH ODS, Zinc). A review of 50 testosterone products found 13 above an upper limit for zinc, vitamin B3 or magnesium (Clemesha 2020, T-Booster Claims (WJMH)). A checking aid, not medical advice.

Other flags05

What other side effects should you watch for?

Watch for stomach upset, rash, a racing heartbeat, dizziness or a change in how you feel. Stop the gummy and call your doctor if any of them appear.

These are general warning signs, not a label list. Two points apply.

  • The label says the gummies are packaged in the same facility as peanuts, tree nuts, wheat, soy and milk products. Ask the seller if you have one of those allergies.
  • Hidden drugs are a known risk in sexual enhancement products as a category. FDA lists many, and says some gummies hid tadalafil (FDA, Sexual Enhancement and Energy Product Notifications). HoneyBoost is not on the list as we read it, and nothing says it is tainted.

The label also lists "artificial color" in Other Ingredients, next to the front line "Lab Tested, No Artificial Additives." We cannot reconcile them from the bottle. The label claims page explains.

Report a problem with any supplement to FDA MedWatch (FDA, MedWatch).

Emergency06

When is a side effect an emergency?

Call 911 for chest pain, fainting or trouble breathing. An erection lasting more than 4 hours needs emergency care right away.

  1. Erection problems that lastSee a healthcare professional, especially if you have diabetes or heart disease. ED can be the first symptom of heart disease.
  2. Signs of low testosteroneLow desire, low energy or fewer spontaneous erections need a blood test, usually two morning samples, not a store-bought booster.
  3. You take a nitrateED medicines and some supplements can drop blood pressure too low with nitrates. Ask your doctor before any sexual health product.
  4. A product works like a drugFast, drug-like effects from a 'natural' product can mean hidden prescription drugs. Stop it and report it to FDA MedWatch.
  5. Call 911 or get care nowChest pain or fainting: call 911. An erection lasting more than 4 hours: get care right away.

From Mayo Clinic (Mayo Clinic, ED Symptoms and Causes) (Mayo Clinic, ED Diagnosis and Treatment), Cleveland Clinic (Cleveland Clinic, Erectile Dysfunction) (Cleveland Clinic, Low Testosterone), NIDDK (NIDDK, Treatment for ED) and FDA (FDA, Sexual Enhancement and Energy Product Notifications) (FDA, MedWatch). This list is not complete, and a supplement is never a reason to wait.

Can HoneyBoost lower blood pressure?

Its L-arginine line can, per Memorial Sloan Kettering, though one gummy has only 10 mg against trial doses in the thousands. If you take blood pressure medicine or nitrates, ask your doctor before you start.

Is the L-DOPA in HoneyBoost a problem?

Each gummy lists 9.8 mg of L-DOPA from mucuna. The prescription levodopa pages list MAO inhibitors and antipsychotics as flags. A clinician should know about any L-dopa source, so mention it at your next visit.

Can HoneyBoost affect the liver?

Tongkat ali has rare reports of liver injury, per the LiverTox record, and horny goat weed is rated an unlikely cause. The gummy has 25 mg of tongkat ali extract. Tell your doctor if you have liver disease.

Does HoneyBoost interfere with lab tests?

Maca may interfere with testosterone immunoassays, per Memorial Sloan Kettering. If you have a testosterone blood test coming, tell the clinician about every supplement you take, including this one.

Is HoneyBoost safe to take long term?

No source tests long-term use of this gummy, and the label gives no duration. Each gummy adds 3 g of sugar and the extracts add up. Review it with your doctor at your regular checkups.
